Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) delivered an outstanding performance in August 2025, recording sales of 34,236 units, a solid 11% year-on-year growth compared to 30,879 units sold in August 2024. This marked the companyโs highest monthly sales tally for the year, driven by strong demand for both its own models and badge-engineered vehicles. With 29,302 units sold domestically and 4,934 units exported, Toyota continues to strengthen its foothold in India and global markets. Hereโs a closer look at TKMโs remarkable achievements and strategic moves in August 2025.
Robust Sales and Market Growth
From January to August 2025, TKM sold 2,41,696 units, reflecting a 14% increase over the 2,12,785 units recorded during the same period in 2024. This consistent growth highlights the soaring popularity of Toyotaโs diverse lineup in India and its expanding export markets, boosting the brandโs market share. The iconic Innova, a household name in India, celebrated its 20th anniversary, surpassing 12 lakh units in total sales, underscoring its enduring appeal.
Portfolio Enhancements and New Launches
Toyota refreshed its offerings with the Urban Cruiser Taisor, introducing a striking Bluish Black color option and standardizing six airbags across all variants for enhanced safety. In the premium segment, the Camry Hybrid Sprint Edition was launched, catering to buyers seeking luxury and efficiency. These updates reflect Toyotaโs commitment to meeting evolving customer preferences while maintaining its reputation for reliability and innovation.
Strategic Partnerships and Manufacturing Strength
TKMโs success is bolstered by its partnership with Suzuki, which has fueled volume growth through badge-engineered models like the Glanza, Rumion, and Urban Cruiser Taisor. At the high end, imported models such as the Vellfire and LC 300 cater to luxury buyers. Toyotaโs manufacturing hub in Bidadi, Karnataka, operates two plants with a combined annual capacity of 3,42,000 units. The first plant, operational since 1999, produces the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, and Legender, while the second, launched in 2010, builds the Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Hilux.
On the corporate front, TKM renewed its Wharfage Rate Agreement with Kamarajar Port Limited, reinforcing its commitment to the Make-in-India initiative and boosting export capabilities. This strategic move supports Toyotaโs goal of expanding its global presence while maintaining strong domestic production.
