The highly anticipated Tata Sierra is set to make a grand return, with its electric variant expected to hit the market by early 2026, followed by its petrol and diesel counterparts later in the year. Unveiled in its near-production form at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Sierra has already created a buzz with its bold design and modern features. Recent sightings of test vehicles across India have further fueled excitement for this iconic SUVโ€™s revival.

Striking Design and Spacious Interiors

The new Tata Sierra boasts a commanding presence with a sleek, horizontal front grille paired with sharp, narrow headlights and a full-width LED light bar that exudes sophistication. The front bumper features bold, angular openings for an aggressive stance. At the rear, a flat design is accentuated by a stylish tail lamp strip, a subtle roof-integrated spoiler, and a sculpted bumper. The blacked-out roof seamlessly blends with a panoramic sunroof, giving the SUV a floating-roof aesthetic.

With its tall pillars, steeply angled windshield, and extended wheelbase, the Sierra promises a spacious and airy cabin. The vehicleโ€™s exterior is further enhanced by sculpted wheel arches and sleek, flush-mounted door handles. While the electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants will share most design elements, subtle differences will distinguish the two, positioning the ICE model to rival popular midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Mahindra XUV700.

Pricing and Market Positioning

The Tata Sierra is expected to be priced competitively, likely ranging between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 23 lakh (ex-showroom). This positions it slightly above the Tata Curvv, making it an attractive option in the midsize SUV segment for buyers seeking a blend of style, performance, and advanced technology.

Electric Variant: Power, Range, and Cutting-Edge Features

The Sierra EV is poised to lead the lineup, offering a driving range exceeding 500 km on a single charge. It will likely support DC fast charging for quick top-ups and incorporate bidirectional charging capabilities, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) power-sharing technologies. While Tata has not officially confirmed the powertrain details, thereโ€™s speculation that the Sierra EV could adopt a dual-motor configuration, similar to the Harrier EV, along with a lifetime battery warranty for added peace of mind.

Premium Cabin and Advanced Technology

Inside, the Sierra promises a tech-laden experience with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driverโ€™s instrument cluster, and an additional 12.3-inch display tailored for the driver. The cabin will feature premium amenities such as Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. Terrain drive modes and other high-end touches will further elevate the driving experience, ensuring comfort and versatility across various conditions.

ICE Variants: Engine Options and Performance

For buyers preferring traditional powertrains, the Sierra ICE will offer two engine options. A new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is expected to deliver 168 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque, while a proven 2.0-litre diesel engine will produce approximately 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Both engines will be paired with a choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, catering to diverse driving preferences.

Why the Tata Sierra Stands Out

The Tata Sierra combines bold styling, a tech-rich interior, and versatile powertrain options, making it a strong contender in the midsize SUV market. Its electric variantโ€™s impressive range and bidirectional charging capabilities position it as a forward-thinking choice for eco-conscious buyers, while the ICE models offer robust performance for traditional SUV enthusiasts. With its competitive pricing and premium features, the Sierra is set to make a significant impact upon its launch.
