The upcoming second-generation Kia Seltos has been caught undergoing road tests, signaling a bold transformation for the popular SUV. Set to debut in India around 2026, this refreshed model promises striking exterior updates, a revamped interior, and cutting-edge features, all while retaining its trusted powertrain lineup. Whispers in the automotive world hint at a possible hybrid variant joining the roster later, but for now, the familiar 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L CRDi diesel, and 1.5L turbo-petrol engines will continue to power the Seltos.
A Striking New Look
The redesigned Seltos showcases a muscular and dynamic design, drawing inspiration from Kiaโs global design language. The front fascia exudes aggression with sharp, sculpted body lines, a bold new grille, vertically stacked LED daytime running lights, and sleek headlamp clusters. Fresh dual-tone alloy wheels add flair, while a unique triangular rear quarter glass enhances its modern appeal. Both the front and rear bumpers have been reimagined, and the taillights now feature a distinctive C-shaped LED signature, complemented by a prominent high-mounted stop lamp. Kia is also expected to roll out vibrant new color options, keeping the SUVโs exterior proportions largely unchanged but injecting a fresh, contemporary vibe.
A Premium Cabin Redesign
Inside, the next-gen Seltos is poised to elevate the driving experience with a completely overhauled dashboard and center console. Expect premium materials, refined textures, and a sophisticated layout that enhances the cabinโs upscale feel. Advanced technology will take center stage, with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster likely to be included. Enhanced connected car features, alongside a suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance systems, will ensure the Seltos remains competitive in its segment.
The feature list is expected to be generous, including an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, ventilated front seats, a powered driverโs seat with memory settings, adjustable headrests, automatic climate control, a multifunctional steering wheel, ambient lighting, a cooled glovebox, front and rear armrests, a panoramic sunroof, and six airbags as standard, carrying forward the safety focus of the current model. A unique โBoss modeโ feature, allowing rear-seat passengers to control certain functions, will add a touch of luxury.
Powertrains and Potential AWD
The second-generation Seltos will likely stick with its proven engine lineup, ensuring reliability and performance continuity. The 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L CRDi diesel, and 1.5L turbo-petrol engines will remain the backbone of the SUVโs powertrain options. However, industry buzz suggests Kia may introduce a hybrid variant later in the modelโs lifecycle, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly options. Thereโs also talk of an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant being offered in select global markets, though it remains uncertain whether India will see this option.
