Maruti Suzuki has kicked off the 2025 festive season with an extraordinary performance, delivering more than 1.65 lakh vehicles in just the first eight days of festivities. This remarkable achievement marks the companyโ€™s strongest festive opening in over a decade, fueled by attractive government tax reductions and exclusive festive offers launched on September 22. The automaker anticipates total festive sales to reach approximately 2 lakh units by the end of the season, setting a new benchmark for the industry.

Unprecedented Demand Across All Segments

The company has reported an overwhelming response from customers, with confirmed bookings exceeding 3.50 lakh units and around 2.50 lakh deliveries still in the pipeline. This surge in demand spans across all vehicle categories, reflecting Maruti Suzukiโ€™s strong market presence and customer trust. Despite the festive boom, September domestic sales faced a temporary setback, with dispatches totaling 1,35,711 units, down 8.3 percent compared to the previous year. The decline was primarily due to logistical challenges, particularly delayed trailer turnaround times for shipments to southern India. Maruti Suzuki expects these issues to resolve by October 10, restoring normal delivery schedules.

SUVs and Small Cars Drive Growth

The newly introduced Victoris has emerged as a star performer, securing over 25,000 bookings and creating a waiting period of nearly ten weeks. Similarly, the Grand Vitara continues to attract strong interest, averaging more than 500 bookings daily during the festive period. The SUV segment as a whole saw a significant 32 percent growth in September compared to the average sales from April to August, with total volumes reaching 1,32,820 units.

Small cars also experienced a remarkable resurgence, with bookings in metropolitan areas surging by 50 percent year-on-year. This revival is largely attributed to strategic price reductions, making Maruti Suzukiโ€™s compact models more accessible to a wider audience.

Export Surge and Electric Vehicle Push

Maruti Suzukiโ€™s export performance has been equally impressive, with overseas shipments in September soaring by 52.2 percent to 42,204 units. A key driver of this growth is the rising demand for electric vehicles, with 6,068 units exported from the Gujarat plant in August and September combined. The production of the e Vitara, set to debut in the domestic market soon, has further strengthened the companyโ€™s electric vehicle portfolio. Cumulatively, Maruti Suzuki has exported over 2.7 lakh vehicles this fiscal year, keeping it on track to meet its ambitious target of 4 lakh units by year-end. South Asia has emerged as a key market, with a record 1,120 units shipped in September alone.

A Bright Outlook for the Festive Season

Maruti Suzukiโ€™s stellar performance this festive season underscores its ability to capitalize on market opportunities and deliver vehicles that resonate with diverse customer needs. With robust demand, innovative models like the Victoris, and a growing focus on electric vehicles, the company is well-positioned to maintain its leadership in the Indian automotive industry. As logistical challenges ease and deliveries normalize, Maruti Suzuki is poised to close the festive season on a high note, setting the stage for continued growth in the months ahead.
