The Indian car scene is about to go absolutely mental between mid-December 2025 and January 2026. Six proper big-boy launches are confirmed, and almost all of them are SUVs or premium stuff that will make your wallet cry and your heart race. Hereโs the no-BS, straight-talk list of whatโs coming and why you should care.
1. Tata Harrier Petrol & Safari Petrol
Tata is done forcing everyone into diesel. Both the Harrier and the Safari are getting the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol Hyperion engine (the same mad unit that debuted in the Sierra). It pumps out 158 horsepower and a chunky 255 Nm of twist. Youโll get a 6-speed manual for the purists and a proper automatic for the lazy kings. Expect both 5-seater Harrier and 7-seater Safari petrol versions to hit showrooms before Christmas 2025. Goodbye diesel excuses, hello fun.
2. All-New 2026 Kia Seltos
Kia is dropping the next-generation Seltos on 10th December 2025 (global debut), and the India launch will follow in early January. This one is noticeably longer and wider, so back-seat uncles will finally stop complaining. Outside it looks angry in the best way, inside it gets that massive Trinity triple-screen dashboard that makes the current car look like a 2010 Corolla. Same 1.5 petrol, turbo, and diesel engines continue โ no surprises there, just a hell of a lot more swag.
3. MINI Cooper Convertible (New Generation)
If you ever wanted to feel like a Bollywood hero cruising Marine Drive with the wind in your hair, January 2026 is your month. The brand-new MINI Cooper Convertible lands with a 2.0-litre turbo making 201 hp and 300 Nm. 0โ100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, top speed 237 km/h, and the electric fabric roof drops in 18 seconds even while moving (up to 30 km/h). Itโs stupid expensive and stupid fun โ exactly what MINI does best.
4. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Marutiโs first proper born-electric SUV drops in January 2026, and itโs coming straight for the Hyundai Creta Electricโs throat. Up to 543 km real-world range, 18-inch alloys, 10-way power driver seat, sliding + reclining 40:20:40 rear seats (yes, really), 10.25-inch digital driver display, Level-2 ADAS suite with 10 functions, and seven airbags as standard. Maruti is not playing โ this is the most loaded electric car under 25 lakh rupees weโve seen yet.
5. Mahindra XUV 7XO (XUV700 Facelift)
Mahindra is rebadging the updated XUV700 as the โXUV 7XOโ (yes, with the letter O, not zero โ marketing things). New aggressive grille, sharper LED headlights, redesigned alloys, connected LED tail-lamps, bigger infotainment screen, fully digital cluster, and a bunch of small but noticeable upgrades inside. Engine lineup stays the same (2.0 turbo petrol & 2.2 diesel with manual/auto/AWD options), but the overall road presence just went up several notches. Launching January 2026.
