BMW Motorrad is preparing to introduce its new entry-level adventure motorcycle, the F 450 GS, in the first half of 2026. Built on a fresh 450cc parallel-twin platform, this model will replace the current G 310 series and become the brandโs most affordable offering in the mid-capacity segment. The entire 450cc family will be produced in India through the ongoing collaboration with TVS Motor Company.
A New Chapter for BMWโs Growth in India
BMW Group Indiaโs President and CEO, Hardeep Singh Brar, recently confirmed that the new 450cc twin-cylinder motorcycle will reach showrooms between January and June 2026. The company also plans to expand its litre-class lineup in the near future.
These upcoming models are expected to drive continued double-digit sales growth for BMW Motorrad in India. In calendar year 2025, the brand sold approximately 5,800 motorcycles, achieving strong double-digit growth. The F 450 GS is positioned as the main volume driver, targeting experienced city riders who want premium quality without moving into the high-end superbike segment.
While healthy sales numbers are important, Brar emphasized that profitability remains the top priority. The company has no intention of reducing prices or compromising on build quality, unlike some feedback received about the earlier 310cc range.

Competition and Positioning
Once launched, the F 450 GS will compete directly with the Honda NX500, Benelli TRK 502, KTM 390 Adventure, and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. BMW believes its superior build, advanced technology, and brand prestige will help it stand out in this competitive segment.
The company also plans additional customer engagement activities, including exclusive riding events, to strengthen the owner community and support long-term growth.
Powertrain and Performance
The heart of the F 450 GS is a new 450cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 48 horsepower and 43 Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and weighs just 178 kg (kerb), making it suitable for A2 licence holders in Europe โ a key export market alongside India.
Advanced Features as Standard
BMW is equipping the F 450 GS with a comprehensive package of premium technology:
- Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) that offers both automatic and manual operation
- Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)
- Dynamic Brake Control (DBC)
- Cornering ABS Pro
- Engine drag torque control (MSR)
- Multiple riding modes: Rain, Road, and Enduro
- 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display with integrated turn-by-turn navigation

Future Variants on the Same Platform
After the adventure-focused F 450 GS, BMW is likely to expand the 450cc family with additional body styles, such as a naked roadster and a fully faired sport-tourer, giving customers more choices within the same premium platform.
With local manufacturing, advanced features, and a clear focus on quality over price competition, the upcoming F 450 GS appears ready to strengthen BMW Motorradโs position in the fast-growing Indian middleweight motorcycle market.
