BMW Group India has etched its name in history as the first luxury automaker to deliver over 5,000 electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market. To commemorate this remarkable feat, the company has unveiled an extensive high-power charging network stretching 4,000 kilometers, connecting the northern city of Jammu to the southern hub of Madurai. This initiative is designed to eliminate concerns about limited driving range, ensuring seamless travel for EV owners.
A Pioneering Charging Network
The newly launched charging corridor spans major urban centers, including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hubbali, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Madurai. Charging stations, strategically placed every 300 kilometers, boast power capacities ranging from 120 kW to an impressive 720 kW. These stations are thoughtfully located near cafes, restaurants, or lounges, allowing drivers to relax or enjoy in-car entertainment while their vehicles recharge.
In collaboration with leading charging providers like Statiq and Zeon, BMW has ensured that this network is accessible to all EV owners, regardless of the brand. Beyond this corridor, BMW Group India has established nearly 300 Destination Chargers at premium locations such as luxury hotels, resorts, and shopping malls. Through partnerships with major charging networks, the company now offers access to over 6,000 charging points across the nation.
Seamless User Experience with the MyBMW App
BMW has simplified the charging process through its MyBMW app, which enables users to locate charging stations, check real-time availability, and filter options based on power capacity or nearby amenities. The app also streamlines payments through a unified gateway, eliminating the need for multiple third-party applications.
Additionally, BMW has introduced a groundbreaking Charging Concierge service, a first in the industry. This service provides personalized support for planning long-distance journeys, recommending optimal routes based on available chargers. Customers also benefit from complimentary home chargers, access to fast-charging stations at BMW and MINI dealerships, and innovative features like Smart E-Routing and BMW Destination Charging.
