BYD, the global leader in electric vehicles, has achieved a significant milestone in India by delivering its 10,000th electric passenger vehicle since starting operations in the country. This landmark reflects the growing popularity of premium electric vehicles among Indian consumers, showcasing BYDโ€™s commitment to sustainable mobility and its expanding footprint in the Indian market.

Building a Robust Presence in India

Since its entry into India in 2007, BYD has focused on more than just vehicle sales. The company has steadily expanded its infrastructure, establishing 44 dealerships across major cities to ensure a seamless customer experience. Additionally, BYD offers nationwide roadside assistance and extended warranty programs to enhance customer satisfaction. Strategic partnerships, such as the collaboration with Relux Electric, have strengthened its ecosystem by providing reliable charging infrastructure for BYD customers, making EV ownership more convenient and accessible.

A Global Powerhouse in Electric Mobility

Globally, BYD has solidified its position as the worldโ€™s largest electric vehicle manufacturer. By July 2025, the company had sold over 13 million New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) worldwide, contributing to a reduction of more than 106 billion kilograms of carbon emissionsโ€”an environmental impact equivalent to the carbon absorption of 1.77 billion trees. This achievement underscores BYDโ€™s pivotal role in combating climate change through innovative electric mobility solutions.

The companyโ€™s excellence has earned it a spot among Kantar BrandZโ€™s Top 10 Most Valuable Global Automotive Brands for three consecutive years, with its brand value currently estimated at USD 14.4 billion. Further demonstrating its commitment to innovation, BYD recently launched the worldโ€™s first all-terrain test circuit in Zhengzhou, China. This state-of-the-art facility features asphalt tracks, off-road paths, wet handling zones, and simulated snow and ice surfaces, ensuring that BYD vehicles are rigorously tested for diverse driving conditions.

Leadership Perspective and Customer Trust

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, expressed pride in the milestone, stating, โ€œDelivering 10,000 electric vehicles in India is a testament to the trust and excitement our customers have for BYDโ€™s vision of sustainable transportation. Each vehicle we deliver helps reduce carbon emissions, pushes the boundaries of EV technology, and fosters a greener mobility ecosystem. The strong support from our customers, including referrals, highlights their confidence in our brand and drives our growth.โ€

Diverse Product Portfolio and Investments

BYDโ€™s current lineup in India includes four models: the newly introduced Sealion 7, the Atto 3 electric SUV, the eMAX 7 MPV, and the Seal sedan. These vehicles cater to a wide range of consumer preferences, combining cutting-edge technology with premium design. To support its operations, BYD India operates two manufacturing facilities spanning 1.4 lakh square meters, backed by investments exceeding USD 200 million. In 2024, the company recorded global NEV sales of over 4.27 million units, reflecting a robust 41% year-on-year growth.

With a strong product portfolio, expanding infrastructure, and a commitment to sustainability, BYD is well-positioned to lead Indiaโ€™s transition to cleaner mobility. As the company continues to innovate and expand, it aims to further strengthen its presence and contribute to a greener, more sustainable future for Indian roads.
