Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India delivered a robust performance in July 2025, achieving domestic sales of 466,331 units, a solid 6.2% increase compared to 439,118 units sold in July 2024. This growth highlights Honda’s strong market presence, driven primarily by its flagship Activa scooter, with notable contributions from its commuter motorcycle lineup. Below is a detailed analysis of Hondaโ€™s sales performance for July 2025, showcasing key models and their year-on-year (YoY) trends.

Activa Leads the Charge

The Honda Activa continues to be the backbone of the companyโ€™s portfolio, recording an impressive 237,413 units sold in July 2025. This marks a significant 21.37% growth compared to 195,604 units in July 2024. The Activaโ€™s unmatched popularity underscores its dominance in the scooter segment, appealing to a wide range of customers seeking reliability and efficiency.

Commuter Motorcycles: Mixed Results

Hondaโ€™s entry-level commuter bikes, the Shine 125 and SP125, collectively sold 138,665 units. However, this figure reflects a slight decline of 1.37% from 140,590 units in July 2024, indicating a dip in demand for these models. In contrast, the Honda Unicorn showed steady growth, with 30,572 units sold, a 14.54% rise from 26,690 units last year, reinforcing its appeal in the 150cc segment.

The Shine 100, another key commuter offering, saw a sales drop of 7.97%, moving 20,993 units compared to 22,812 units in July 2024. Similarly, the Livo remained nearly stagnant, with 3,664 units sold, a marginal 0.16% decline from 3,670 units last year. The SP160 faced a significant setback, with sales plummeting 58.74% to 2,234 units from 5,414 units, signaling a need for strategic adjustments in this segment.

Scooter Segment: Dioโ€™s Decline

The Honda Dio scooter experienced a notable downturn, with sales falling 16.49% to 27,951 units from 33,472 units in July 2024. This decline suggests shifting consumer preferences or increased competition in the scooter market, which Honda may need to address to regain momentum.

Premium Motorcycles: CB350 Shines Bright

In the premium motorcycle category, the Honda CB350 emerged as a standout performer, more than doubling its sales to 2,072 units, a remarkable 104.95% growth from 1,011 units in July 2024. This surge strengthens Hondaโ€™s position in the midsize motorcycle segment, appealing to enthusiasts seeking style and performance.

However, other premium models faced challenges. The Hโ€™ness 350 saw a 10.96% decline, with 1,170 units sold compared to 1,314 units last year. The Hornet 2.0 also struggled, recording a 38.81% drop to 782 units from 1,278 units. The CB200X followed suit, with a 12.50% decrease to 476 units from 544 units.

Niche and Electric Offerings

Hondaโ€™s premium and niche models showed varied performance. The XL750 Transalp recorded a 22.22% increase, with 22 units sold compared to 18 units in July 2024. The GL1800 Gold Wing, a luxury tourer, saw a 33.33% rise, moving 8 units compared to 6 units last year, though volumes remain small. Newer models like the QC1 electric scooter (207 units), Activa e (16 units), CB 500 (41 units), and CBR 650 (39 units) recorded sales but contributed minimally to the overall tally.

Notably, the Honda Dream and CB300 saw zero sales in July 2025, a stark contrast to 6,550 and 145 units, respectively, in July 2024, indicating these models may have been phased out or faced supply constraints.

Strategic Moves and Future Outlook

Hondaโ€™s sales performance in July 2025 highlights its reliance on the Activa, which continues to drive volumes. The CB350โ€™s growth is a positive sign for Hondaโ€™s ambitions in the premium motorcycle space. However, declines in models like the Dio, SP160, and Hornet 2.0 suggest areas for improvement, particularly in addressing competitive pressures and evolving consumer preferences.

To bolster its portfolio, Honda recently introduced the CB 125 Hornet and Shine 100 DX, alongside launching 25-year Anniversary Editions of the Activa 110, Activa 125, and SP125. These moves reflect Hondaโ€™s commitment to innovation and celebrating its legacy in India.
