Hyundai has taken the stage at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich to reveal its groundbreaking Ioniq Concept Three, a visionary prototype that paves the way for the Ioniq 3, a compact electric vehicle (EV) tailored for European drivers. This sleek, forward-thinking model is set to hit European roads by late 2026, with potential availability in India by 2028, positioned as an affordable option below the Creta EV in Hyundaiโ€™s electric lineup. The automaker also shared ambitious plans to launch 21 EV models worldwide by 2030 and ensure every internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle in Europe has an electrified counterpart by 2027.

โ€œThis is a proud moment for Hyundai as we return to IAA Mobility after a four-year hiatus,โ€ said Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. โ€œThe Concept Three is a bold step in our electrification journey, blending compact practicality with a striking design that resonates emotionally with drivers.โ€

Compact Dimensions, Spacious Interior

The Hyundai Ioniq Concept Three measures 4,287 mm long, 1,940 mm wide, and 1,428 mm tall, with a 2,722 mm wheelbase that promises a roomy cabin and ample legroom. Showcased in a sophisticated Tungsten Gray exterior, the concept features vibrant Moonbeam Yellow upholstery inside, creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere.

Striking Design with a Modern Edge

The Concept Three embodies Hyundaiโ€™s โ€œArt of Steelโ€ design philosophy, characterized by sharp, futuristic lines and dynamic styling. Key exterior highlights include a forward-leaning cowl, a sporty posture, a flowing roofline, and an aerodynamic hatch silhouette. A distinctive ducktail rear spoiler and vertical tailgate add flair, while the signature Parametric Pixel lighting adorns both the front and rear. The vehicleโ€™s anodized-effect finish is complemented by lemon-tinted glass and matching alloy wheels, enhancing its bold aesthetic.

Inside, the cabin blends soft yellow and gray tones for a warm, modern vibe. Hyundai has opted for sustainability, incorporating recycled ocean waste textiles and lightweight aluminum foam. Soft-touch door trims and headrests elevate comfort, while the innovative โ€œBring Your Own Lifestyle (BYOL)โ€ modular widgets allow occupants to personalize their experience. Notably, the concept ditches a traditional touchscreen infotainment system, encouraging drivers to integrate their personal devices for a seamless, tech-forward experience.

Performance and Technology

The Ioniq Concept Three is poised to be Hyundaiโ€™s entry-level EV for Europe, potentially sharing its platform with the Kia EV4. It is expected to offer single- and dual-motor configurations, paired with multiple battery options. The concept boasts an impressive driving range of up to 628 km on a single charge, making it a practical choice for urban and long-distance travel.

Equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities, the Concept Three can power external devices or even charge other EVs. Support for 150 kW DC fast-charging ensures quick top-ups, minimizing downtime on the road.

A Vision for the Future

The Hyundai Ioniq Concept Three is more than a showpieceโ€”itโ€™s a blueprint for the Ioniq 3, a compact EV that blends style, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology. With its debut at IAA 2025, Hyundai signals its commitment to redefining electric mobility for a diverse, global audience. As the brand accelerates toward an electrified future, the Concept Three stands as a testament to innovation and accessibility in the EV space.
