In the fast-moving world of Indian cars, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) continue to rule the roads for Hyundai Motor India. Especially the affordable ones made right here and priced below 15 lakh rupees (before showroom extras), these models are leading the charge. Remember, Hyundai used to be all about small hatchbacks and sleek sedans until the game-changing Creta arrived exactly a decade ago. Fast forward to September 2025, and SUVs made up almost one-third of the company’s total deliveries in the country!

Hyundai boasts one of the biggest ranges of cars in India โ€“ a whopping ten different options to pick from. Last month, they moved 51,547 vehicles in our market, which is a solid 1% jump from the 51,101 units sold back in September 2024. Out of those ten models, six are tough SUVs, and together they racked up 37,313 units โ€“ that’s a massive 72% slice of the pie! But get this: just three stars โ€“ the mighty Creta, zippy Venue, and compact Exter โ€“ handled 35,988 units all by themselves, covering a huge 70% of Hyundai’s entire sales.

Creta Reigns Supreme โ€“ Venue Closes In, Exter Hits a Bump

No big surprises here: the premium Creta SUV crushed it as Hyundai’s top seller once again! The South Korean giant handed over 18,861 units last month โ€“ a impressive 19% surge from the 15,902 delivered in September 2024. Owners love its style, features, and that perfect mid-size vibe.

Right on its heels? The ever-popular Venue sub-compact SUV, which notched 11,484 units โ€“ a healthy 12% growth over last year’s 10,259. It’s the go-to for young buyers wanting fun, fuel efficiency, and city smarts.

Now, the pint-sized Exter micro SUV? It dipped to 5,643 units in September 2025, down 18% from 6,908 a year ago. Still, it’s a budget champ under 10 lakh, pulling in first-time buyers like magnets.

Hot on its tail, the practical Aura sub-4 meter sedan shone bright with 5,387 units โ€“ that’s a stellar 21% leap from 4,462 last year. Families digging its space and zippy engine are keeping it alive in a SUV world!

The Rest of the Lineup: Winners, Losers, and Electric Dreams

The classic Grand i10 hatchback? It slipped to 4,238 units, a 17% drop from 5,103. Urban commuters still swear by it, but competition is fierce.

Premium i20 Elite hatch? Down 12% to 3,884 from 4,428 โ€“ tough times for this stylish ride amid rising SUV fever.

Ouch for the Alcazar three-row SUV: just 1,234 units, crashing 54% from 2,712! Bigger rivals are stealing its family thunder.

Verna sedan? A rough 39% slide to 725 units from 1,198 โ€“ sporty sedans are fading fast.

Tucson luxury SUV managed 85 units (-13% from 98), while the electric Ioniq 5 tanked hardest at 6 units (-81% from 31). EV charging woes and high costs are real hurdles here.
