The Indian Automobile passenger vehicle sector experienced a massive festive boost in October 2025, driving overall dispatches to an impressive 549,083 units. This represents a solid 10.74 percent increase compared to the same month in 2024, when the industry moved 495,810 vehicles. Automakers boosted production lines to capitalize on the Navratri and Diwali shopping frenzy, resulting in one of the strongest monthly performances in recent times.
Maruti Suzuki Secures the Crown with Record-Breaking Numbers
Leading the pack without any surprise, Maruti Suzuki delivered 238,515 vehicles to customers in October 2025. This figure marks a remarkable 17.40 percent growth from the 203,190 units sold in October 2024. Standout performers like the Baleno hatchback, Fronx crossover, and Brezza compact SUV kept the momentum alive in showrooms across the country. Additionally, the brand achieved its highest quarterly export volume ever, shipping more than 110,000 units overseas during the second quarter of fiscal year 2026.
Tata Motors Holds Strong in Second Place with EV Contributions
Tata Motors claimed the runner-up position by dispatching 73,877 units, reflecting a healthy 12.22 percent rise over the 65,838 vehicles from the prior year. The Nexon SUV alone accounted for over 38,000 sales, showcasing a whopping 73 percent jump during the festive window. Models such as the Punch micro-SUV anchored the lineup, while electric variants including the Tiago EV and Punch EV added significant volume. The company crossed the 100,000-unit dispatch milestone in a single month, aided by a 33 percent surge in certain segments.
Mahindra Climbs to Third with SUV-Heavy Portfolio
Mahindra & Mahindra secured third rank with 66,467 units sold, up 6.21 percent from 62,586 units in October 2024. The brand’s success stemmed largely from its rugged SUV range, where icons like the Scorpio, Bolero pickup, XUV700 premium crossover, XUV 3XO compact model, and Thar off-roader dominated buyer preferences.
Hyundai Slips to Fourth Amid Competitive Pressure
Hyundai Motor India ended up in fourth spot with 65,045 units, experiencing a 7.30 percent decline from the 70,171 vehicles delivered in the previous October. Despite the dip, the company maintained a competitive presence in multiple segments.
Toyota and Kia Round Out the Top Six with Double-Digit Gains
Toyota Kirloskar Motor posted 33,503 units, achieving a 14.00 percent year-on-year increase from 29,378 units. Key drivers included the Innova Hycross MPV and Urban Cruiser Hyryder hybrid SUV, which resonated well with family buyers. Kia India followed closely in sixth with 32,736 units, growing 9.90 percent over the 29,788 from last year.
Emerging Players and Niche Brands in the Lower Ranks
The combined Skoda-Volkswagen entity jumped to seventh place with 12,054 units, boasting a sharp 34.10 percent growth from 8,987 units. Honda Cars India managed 7,168 units, down 3.00 percent from 7,386. JSW MG Motor recorded 5,753 units, a slight 2.56 percent drop from 5,904. Renault rounded out the top ten with 5,041 units, up 12.60 percent from 4,476.
Beyond the Top Ten: Smaller Contributors and Overall Market
Nissan dispatched 2,548 units, reflecting a 5.90 percent decrease from 2,709. Chinese EV specialist BYD saw strong growth, selling 560 units for a 40.40 percent rise over 399. The “Others” category, encompassing various minor players, contributed 5,816 units, up 16.40 percent from 4,998.
