Mahindra has officially unveiled its all-new NU_IQ platform, which will serve as the backbone for a fresh lineup of SUVs starting in 2027. This new modular architecture has been built with a global outlook, ensuring it meets the needs of both Indian and international customers.
Flexible Platform For All Powertrains
The NU_IQ platform is designed to support a wide variety of powertrains including traditional petrol and diesel engines, hybrid systems, and fully electric setups. It can also be adapted for front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and both left- and right-hand drive configurations, making it versatile enough to cater to multiple markets.
One of the biggest highlights is its flat-floor design, which will allow Mahindra to launch the first flat-floor SUV with an internal combustion engine (ICE). This design not only improves cabin space but also increases boot capacity, ensuring better comfort, practicality, and commanding seating positions for passengers. Mahindra also promises lightweight construction and best-in-class safety features with this architecture.
Four Concept SUVs Showcased
At the launch event in Mumbai, Mahindra showcased four concept SUVs based on this platform: Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT, and Vision.X. All four models reflect the companyโs HEARTCORE design philosophy and were created in collaboration between the Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) in the UK. Engineering expertise came from Mahindra Research Valley in Tamil Nadu.

Advanced Digital Architecture
Alongside the platform, Mahindra also revealed its new digital and electronic ecosystem called NU_UX. This system will offer seamless connectivity, smart features, and an advanced in-cabin user experience, aimed at giving future Mahindra SUVs a more futuristic feel.

Upcoming Mahindra Launches
While the NU_IQ-based SUVs will debut from 2027 onwards, Mahindra is also busy with near-term launches. The company is preparing updates for the three-door Thar and XUV700, while the next-generation Bolero has already been spotted testing. In addition, Mahindra plans to bring out electric SUVs like the XEV 7e (based on the XUV.e8 concept) and the XUV 3XO EV within the next year.
