The Mahindra XEV 9S, easily one of the most talked-about electric SUVs launched in 2025, is finally hitting the roads. Mahindra has split the lineup into four main packs: Pack ONE Above (base), Pack TWO Above, Pack THREE, and the fully loaded Pack THREE Above. Weโve already shown you the top-end version and the entry-level one; now letโs deep-dive into the sweet-spot Pack THREE variant โ the one most buyers are actually going to pick.
Looks From The Outside โ Same Swagger As The Top Model (Almost)
Walk up to the Pack THREE and youโll swear itโs the range-topper. You still get those sharp inverted L-shaped LED DRLs with the glowing center strip, the full illuminated โMahindra Infinityโ logo on the blanked-off grille, and proper bi-LED projector headlamps (same as even the base model).
From this variant upwards, the headlights get cornering lamps and that cool welcome/goodbye light sequence. The biggest upgrade youโll notice instantly: the flush door handles now pop out electrically (lower variants have fixed ones) and the turn indicators become sequential (dynamic), giving it that premium flowing effect.
Wheels are the same 18-inch aero-designed alloys you see on cheaper trims, roof rails are still the low-profile ones, and the LED tail lamps stretch across the boot with the same XUV700-inspired look but fresher internals. The rear bumper stays chunky with black cladding, and you still get the โXEV 9Sโ badge with the red โSโ.
Step Inside โ Where It Starts Feeling Properly Luxe
Open the door and the cabin feels identical to the Pack TWO Above until you spot the new tricks:
- Ambient lighting now glows softly across dashboard, doors, and the panoramic sunroof โ a big jump from lower trims.
- You get โBoss Modeโ โ the right-side rear passenger can electrically shove the front passenger seat forward for limo-like legroom.
- Rear seats are ventilated (huge deal in Indian summers).
- Wireless charging pad at the back.
- Co-driver seat gets 6-way power adjustment.
- 7th airbag (knee airbag for driver) + full Level-2 ADAS package with 5 radars now standard.
- Anti-fogging front windshield (super useful in North India winters).
Rest of the goodies were already there in lower variants:
- Triple 12.3-inch screens floating across the dash
- Ventilated and powered driver seat with memory
- Dual-zone AC
- 360ยฐ camera
- Leatherette everywhere
- Piano-black center console with rotary controller
Battery, Motor & Real-World Range
Pack THREE gets only the big 79 kWh battery (no choice here):
- Single rear-mounted motor
- 286 PS (282 hp) & 380 Nm
- Rear-wheel drive only
- Official MIDC range: 679 km (Phase I + II cycle)
Yes, you can get the 59 kWh (smaller) or 70 kWh packs in other variants, but if youโre spending this kind of money, most people are taking the 79 kWh for that 650+ km peace-of-mind range.
Price & Who It Fights
Ex-showroom pan-India introductory price: โน27.35 lakh
Direct rivals on road:
- Tata Harrier EV (coming soon)
- BYD Atto 3
- Hyundai Ioniq 5 (slightly higher segment)
- Its own cousin โ Mahindra XEV 9e (the coupe version)

Should You Buy The Pack THREE?
If you want electric flush handles, sequential indicators, ambient lighting, rear ventilated seats, Boss Mode, full ADAS, and the biggest battery without paying the extra โน3โ4 lakh for the absolute top Pack THREE Above (which mainly adds AWD, bigger 20-inch wheels, and a few more luxury bits), then Pack THREE is the no-brainer โGoldilocksโ variant.
Bookings are open, deliveries have started in most cities. If youโre seriously considering it, go sit in one โ the moment those flush handles pop out and the cabin lights up in the evening, itโs very hard to walk away.
