The wait is finally over for SUV enthusiasts. Mahindr has officially commenced the pre-booking process for its highly anticipated model, the XUV 7XO, starting today. Prospective customers can now secure their vehicle by paying a reservation fee of twenty-one thousand Indian rupees. The booking window opened at noon through both physical dealerships and the brandโ€™s official online platforms.

During the reservation process, buyers will have the flexibility to choose their desired engine configuration, transmission type, and a preferred dealership for future servicing. The company has officially announced that the market release date for this updated SUV is set for the fifth of January, 2026.

A Comprehensive Redesign with a Focus on Aesthetics and Tech

The XUV 7XO is not merely a facelift; it represents a thorough overhaul of the popular XUV 700. The most striking changes are immediately visible on the exterior. The design philosophy takes clear inspiration from Mahindraโ€™s recent electric concepts, particularly the XEV 9S. The front end features a new signature for the LED daytime running lights, complemented by projector headlamps. At the rear, a distinctive light pattern with inverted L-shaped elements, connected by a seamless full-width light bar, creates a modern and recognizable night-time signature.

Further exterior enhancements include a redesigned front grille adorned with vertical chrome slats, revised front and rear bumper designs, and exclusive XUV 7XO lettering on both the bonnet and the tailgate. The SUV will also ride on fresh dual-tone alloy wheels and be offered in a selection of new exterior paint colors. Despite these comprehensive styling updates, the overall dimensions and footprint of the vehicle are expected to remain consistent with the outgoing model.

Interior: A Leap into the Future

Stepping inside the cabin marks a significant milestone for Mahindraโ€™s internal combustion engine (ICE) portfolio. The XUV 7XO will be the first non-electric vehicle from the brand to feature the advanced triple-screen dashboard layout, a configuration first seen in the all-electric XEV 9S and XEV 9E models. This setup promises a deeply immersive and tech-forward experience for both driver and passengers.

The interior revamp is extensive. Expect a completely redesigned dashboard, available in premium tan or brown themes, with upgraded soft-touch materials. The center console, air vents, door trims, and steering wheel have all been reworked for a more upmarket feel. Key technological upgrades include 5G-ready connectivity, an updated infotainment system interface, integrated Amazon Alexa voice assistant support, and the practical โ€˜Boss Modeโ€™ for front passenger comfort. Electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) add to the convenience factor.

Powertrain: Proven Performance Continues

Under the hood, Mahindra is likely to retain its trusted and proven powertrain options. The XUV 7XO is expected to carry forward the 2.0-liter mStallion turbo-petrol and the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engines. Both power units will be offered with a choice between a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic gearbox, ensuring a familiar yet potent driving experience for customers.

Pricing and Market Positioning

With the host of technological additions and comprehensive design revisions, the XUV 7XO is anticipated to command a moderate price increase over the current XUV 700. This strategic move follows the positive market reception of Mahindraโ€™s recent premium and electric offerings like the XEV 9E, BE 06, and XEV 9S. The launch of the XUV 7XO clearly underscores Mahindraโ€™s ambition to capture a more substantial share of the competitive premium SUV segment in the Indian automotive market.
