JSW MG Motor India showcased impressive sales in September 2025, dispatching 6,728 vehicles, a remarkable 34% growth compared to 5,021 units sold in the same month last year. Despite a cautious start to the month as buyers awaited GST rate reductions, demand surged post-reform, fueled by the festive Navratri season and attractive pricing.
Windsor EV Leads the Charge
While model-specific sales figures werenโt disclosed, the Windsor EV electric crossover was undoubtedly the star performer, maintaining its position as MGโs top-selling model. From January to August 2025, it led the brandโs retail charts and held the title of Indiaโs best-selling electric vehicle for 11 consecutive months (October 2024โAugust 2025). September marked the Windsorโs highest-ever wholesale numbers. The MG Comet also hit a milestone, recording its highest wholesale figures for 2025 so far.
Growing Luxury Presence
According to Vahan Portal data, MG Select has emerged as Indiaโs second-largest luxury electric vehicle brand, driven by its premium offerings like the Cyberster and M9, sold through dedicated MG Select showrooms. The broader lineup, including the Comet EV, Astor, Windsor EV, Hector, ZS EV, and Gloster, is available at regular MG outlets, catering to diverse customer preferences.
GST Reforms Boost ICE Models
While the GST rate for electric vehicles remains steady at 5%, internal combustion engine (ICE) models benefited from reductions ranging from 5% to 13%. JSW MG Motor passed these savings directly to customers, slashing ex-showroom prices for its ICE vehicles:
- Astor: Now starts at โน9.65 lakh, reduced by up to โน34,000
- Hector: Now starts at โน14.00 lakh, reduced by up to โน49,000
- Gloster: Now starts at โน39.80 lakh, reduced by up to โน2.83 lakh
Additionally, the Gloster enjoys extra discounts of up to โน3.50 lakh as MG prepares to launch the Majestor SUV later this quarter.
