Nissan India is gearing up to transform its presence in the Indian automotive market with the launch of three distinct vehicles over the next couple of years. The companyโs Managing Director, Saurabh Vatsa, recently shared exciting details about these upcoming models, which include a compact 7-seater MPV, a robust midsize SUV, and a spacious full-size 7-seater SUV. Each vehicle is designed to cater to the unique needs of Indian buyers while showcasing Nissanโs innovative design and engineering expertise. Hereโs a detailed look at whatโs coming.
1. Nissanโs Compact 7-Seater MPV: A Game-Changer for Families
Set to make its global debut by late 2025 or early 2026, Nissanโs new 7-seater compact MPV is poised to shake up the budget-friendly MPV segment. This vehicle, developed at Nissanโs Chennai manufacturing plant, will feature a striking C-shaped front grille and rugged SUV-inspired styling, aligning with Nissanโs signature design language. Itโs built to compete directly with models like the Renault Triber, offering a practical yet stylish option for Indian families.
The MPV will be based on the advanced CMF-A+ platform, a refined version of the architecture used in the Renault Kwid. Inside, expect a familiar yet upgraded cabin, borrowing elements from the Nissan Magnite for a comfortable and feature-rich experience. Powering this MPV will likely be a 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with manual or AMT transmission options. For those seeking a bit more performance, higher trims might offer a 1.0L turbo-petrol engine with a smooth CVT gearbox, ensuring versatility for different driving preferences.
2. Nissanโs Midsize C-SUV: Ready for Indian Roads
In the second half of 2026, Nissan will introduce a dynamic midsize SUV based on the Renault Duster, designed specifically for Indian road conditions. Drawing inspiration from the bold and muscular Nissan Patrol, sold globally, this C-segment SUV will combine rugged aesthetics with practical features. High ground clearance, along with optimized approach and departure angles, will make it ideal for navigating Indiaโs diverse terrains, from city streets to rural highways.
Built on the CMF-B platform, this SUV will be locally manufactured in Chennai and exported to over 65 countries, reflecting Nissanโs โOne Car, One Worldโ philosophy. The vehicle promises a feature-packed interior, with modern technology and comfort tailored to Indian buyers. While specific engine details are yet to be revealed, expect a robust powertrain lineup designed to balance performance and efficiency, making it a strong contender in the competitive midsize SUV market.
3. Nissanโs Full-Size 7-Seater SUV: Redefining Space and Comfort
By early 2027, Nissan will roll out a full-size 7-seater SUV, a vehicle engineered to stand out in the premium SUV segment. Unlike a simple extension of the midsize C-SUV, this model will be a distinct offering, carefully crafted to deliver true three-row seating comfort. Drawing inspiration from the Renault Boreal, it will share some mechanical components and the CMF-B platform but will boast unique styling and enhanced features to set it apart.
Nissan has promised that this 7-seater will offer a premium experience, with a focus on spaciousness, advanced technology, and family-friendly practicality. While itโs unclear whether Nissan will include a strong hybrid powertrain, as planned for the Renault Boreal, the SUV is expected to deliver a refined driving experience suited for long journeys and urban commutes alike.

By leveraging local manufacturing in Chennai and focusing on export markets, Nissan is positioning India as a key hub for its global operations. Each vehicle is designed to meet the diverse needs of Indian consumers, combining affordability, durability, and modern features.
