Citroen India has officially started accepting bookings for the upcoming Basalt X range, which is expected to be the most feature-rich and premium version in the lineup. Interested buyers can reserve their car either through Citroenโs official India website or by visiting an authorised dealership. The booking amount has been set at โน11,000. Along with this announcement, the brand has also released teaser images showcasing some exciting upgrades.
The Basalt X is part of Citroenโs new โShift Into the New 2.0โ strategy, following the introduction of the C3 X range, which went on sale recently with additional features at prices starting from โน7.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Fresh Interiors & Premium Touches
The teaser reveals that the Basalt X will feature a dual-tone black and brown interior theme, giving the cabin a more upmarket feel. Copper highlights can be spotted on the dashboard and around the AC vents, enhancing the premium look. A new front central armrest with dual cupholders and a small storage slot also makes its way into the design.
Based on Citroenโs strategy with the C3 X, which got features like push-button start, keyless entry, and a 360-degree camera, the Basalt X is expected to receive similar โ and possibly even more advanced โ equipment, given its premium positioning.
Expected Features
While the teaser only hints at a few design changes, the feature list is likely to include:
- 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
- 7-inch digital driver display
- Six airbags
- Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
- Hill Hold Assist
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Boot space will remain at 470 liters, while the SUV coupe will continue offering 180 mm of ground clearance, making it practical for Indian roads.
Engine Options
The Basalt X will continue with the same 1.2-litre petrol engines:
- Naturally Aspirated: 82 bhp, 115 Nm torque, 5-speed manual gearbox
- Turbocharged: 108.6 bhp, 190 Nm with 6-speed manual OR 205 Nm with 6-speed automatic (torque converter)

Pricing & Positioning
Currently, the Basalt range is priced between โน8.32 lakh and โน14.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Basalt X variants are expected to be โน30,000โ40,000 more expensive than the current trims.
