2026 Renault Duster: A Grand Return
After a five-year absence, Renault is reintroducing the Duster to the Indian market in 2026, with an expected price range of Rs 10-15 lakh (ex-showroom). This 5-seater midsize SUV will feature a 1.3L turbo petrol engine, delivering 156 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between manual and automatic transmissions, with a strong hybrid powertrain to be added later. The Duster will boast premium features like dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon audio system, a 10-inch digital driver display, and a touchscreen infotainment system. Safety will be enhanced with Level 2 ADAS, including autonomous emergency braking and other advanced features.
2026 Nissan Kait: A Stylish Contender
Nissanโs new midsize SUV, likely named Kait, will share its foundation with the Renault Duster but will stand out with a distinctive design. Teasers on Nissanโs social media platforms showcase a bold front grille with twin chrome accents and L-shaped LED DRLs. Expected to launch shortly after the Duster in 2026, the Kait will offer a feature-packed cabin, including multi-drive modes, rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will share the Dusterโs 1.3L turbo petrol engine and hybrid powertrain options, ensuring robust performance and efficiency.
Renault Boreal 7-Seater: Spacious and Premium
Renault will expand its lineup with a 7-seater version of the Duster, tentatively called the Boreal, slated for release in late 2026. Priced between Rs 14-20 lakh (ex-showroom), this three-row SUV will mirror the Dusterโs exterior design while offering a luxurious interior. It will share the same 1.3L turbo petrol engine, transmission options, and hybrid technology as the Duster. Renault may also introduce an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, making it a strong rival to the Mahindra XUV 700.
Nissanโs New 7-Seater SUV: A Local Gem
Nissan will also launch a 7-seater SUV, developed locally at the Renault-Nissan facility in Chennai, with a debut expected in early 2027. Built on the CMF-B platform, this SUV will share similarities with the Renault Boreal but feature unique styling cues inspired by the Kait. It will be powered by the same 1.3L turbo petrol engine, with manual and automatic transmission options, and is expected to include hybrid technology and an AWD system in later variants. This model aims to offer a blend of practicality, style, and advanced features for Indian families.
