Skoda and Volkswagen India delivered an impressive performance, showcasing strong sales figures driven by new launches and consistent demand. The combined sales for the two brands reached 9,416 units, reflecting a remarkable 41% growth compared to the same period last year. This surge highlights the growing popularity of their vehicles, especially during the festive season, with Skoda leading the charge and Volkswagen maintaining steady momentum.
Skodaโs Stellar Performance
Skoda India recorded a phenomenal 6,636 units sold in September 2025, more than doubling its sales from 3,301 units in September 2024. The star of the show was the newly launched Skoda Kylaq SUV, which captured the marketโs attention with an impressive 4,398 units sold domestically. This compact SUV has quickly become a favorite among Indian buyers, thanks to its stylish design and practical features.
While the Kylaq stole the spotlight, other models in Skodaโs lineup showed mixed results. The Skoda Kushaq, a popular midsize SUV, saw a 56% year-on-year decline, with 769 units sold compared to 1,767 units in September 2024. Similarly, the Skoda Slavia sedan experienced a slight 4% dip, registering 1,339 units against 1,391 units last year. However, the Slavia showed resilience with a solid 33% month-on-month growth compared to August 2025.
The premium Skoda Kodiaq SUV also made a strong comeback, with 130 units sold, marking a 73% improvement over August 2025. Meanwhile, the Skoda Superb has been temporarily discontinued, and the Octavia is absent from the current lineup. Skoda is now focusing heavily on its SUV portfolio, with the upcoming Octavia RS generating buzz. Official bookings for the Octavia RS began recently, with the first 100 units pre-booked in just 20 minutes for a token amount of Rs. 2.5 lakh. The price for this performance-oriented model will be revealed on October 17, 2025.
Volkswagenโs Steady Contribution
Volkswagen India contributed 2,780 units to the groupโs total sales in September 2025, reflecting an 18% year-on-year decline from 3,394 units in September 2024. However, the brand showed signs of recovery with a 2% month-on-month growth compared to August 2025, signaling stability during the festive season.
The Volkswagen Virtus sedan remained the backbone of the brandโs sales, clocking 1,648 units, though it saw a marginal 3% dip compared to 1,697 units in September 2024. The Taigun midsize SUV also performed well, with 1,114 units sold, reflecting an 11% growth over August 2025, despite a 31% year-on-year drop from 1,611 units. The premium Volkswagen Tiguan, with 17 units sold, doubled its month-on-month performance, while the performance-focused Golf GTI, available in limited numbers, saw minimal activity.
