Skoda has revealed its latest creation, the Epiq concept, a compact all-electric SUV designed to make electric mobility accessible to a broader audience. Set to hit production lines in 2026, this model will sit below the Enyaq in Skoda’s global electric vehicle lineup, offering an affordable entry point into the world of EVs. The debut took place at the Volkswagen Group’s media event in preparation for the Munich IAA showcase.

Compact Design with Practical Appeal

The Skoda Epiq stretches 4.1 meters in length, making it a perfect fit for urban environments. Despite its compact footprint, it boasts a generous 475-liter cargo area, ideal for daily errands or weekend adventures. The vehicle promises an impressive driving range of up to 425 kilometers on a single charge, ensuring practicality for both city commutes and longer journeys. Priced to compete with Skoda’s Kamiq, the Epiq aims to deliver premium features at a budget-friendly cost.

Bold and Modern Styling

The Epiq introduces Skoda’s Modern Solid design philosophy, blending sleek aesthetics with functional elegance. Its exterior sports a unique Cashmere matte finish, complemented by a glossy black front fascia and distinctive T-shaped LED lights. Sharp, sculpted lines along the sides create a robust stance, while a contrasting glasshouse adds a touch of sophistication. This design ensures the Epiq stands out in the crowded compact SUV market.

Smart and Spacious Interior

Inside, the Epiq prioritizes practicality and user-friendly features. The cabin is designed with clever storage solutions, including hidden underfloor compartments, secure bag hooks, and versatile fastening points for luggage. The minimalist dashboard integrates cutting-edge technology, such as wireless smartphone charging, tactile scroll wheels, and intuitive physical controls for ease of use. Skoda’s commitment to a digital-first approach is evident with advanced connectivity features and state-of-the-art driver assistance systems. The interior strikes a balance between spaciousness, simplicity, and comfort, avoiding overly complex or flashy designs.

Part of a Larger Vision

The Epiq will be produced at Volkswagen’s Navarra facility in Spain as part of the Electric Urban Car Family initiative under the Brand Group Core. This project focuses on affordability by leveraging shared development and cost efficiencies across Skoda, SEAT, CUPRA, and Volkswagen. Alongside the Epiq, Volkswagen introduced the ID.CROSS concept, which will spawn its own compact electric SUV in the near future. This collaborative effort underscores Skoda’s push to dominate the entry-level electric SUV segment.

Skoda’s Strategy and India Plans

The Epiq marks Skoda’s bold step toward making electric vehicles mainstream in the compact SUV category. Meanwhile, in India, Skoda is focusing on updating its Kushaq midsize SUV and has recently launched the Kylaq, a compact SUV with a traditional internal combustion engine. These efforts reflect Skoda’s commitment to offering diverse, market-specific solutions while advancing its global electrification goals.
