The highly anticipated Tata Sierra is gearing up for its market debut, with the electric variant expected to hit showrooms before its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. Showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, this midsize SUV has generated significant excitement. Industry insiders suggest a launch by late 2025 or early 2026. Recently, camouflaged prototypes were spotted undergoing road tests in Coimbatore, offering a glimpse into the vehicle’s production-ready design.
Striking Design and Features
The test vehicles, seen cruising on highways, closely mirror the concept revealed earlier this year. Despite heavy camouflage, key design elements stand out, including a bold horizontal grille, sleek LED headlights connected by a slim light bar, and a sculpted front bumper. The rear showcases a minimalist tail lamp strip, an integrated spoiler, and a dynamic bumper design. Unique alloy wheel patterns were also visible, hinting at multiple variant options.
The Sierraโs exterior boasts a sleek black roof paired with a panoramic sunroof, creating a floating roof effect. Its upright pillars, sharply angled windshield, and extended wheelbase promise a roomy interior. Muscular wheel arches and flush door handles add a modern, sophisticated touch to the SUVโs aesthetic.
Advanced Electric Capabilities
The electric Sierra is expected to support DC fast charging and innovative bidirectional features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) energy transfer. While itโs unclear if it will inherit the dual-motor setup or lifetime battery warranty seen in the Harrier EV, the Sierra is likely to deliver an impressive range exceeding 500 km. It may share components with the Tata Curvv, ensuring cost efficiency and proven technology.
Powerful ICE Options
For those preferring traditional engines, the Sierraโs ICE variant is rumored to introduce a new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine, delivering 168 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. Additionally, Tata is expected to offer its trusted 2.0-liter diesel engine, producing approximately 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Both engines will likely be paired with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter automatic transmissions, catering to diverse driving preferences.
Tech-Loaded Interior
Inside, the Sierra promises a futuristic cabin with a triple-screen setup: a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a dedicated 12.3-inch driver display. The SUV will come equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and a stylish four-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated logo. Multiple terrain modes will enhance its versatility across various driving conditions.
