Volkswagen India has introduced significant price reductions across its entire lineup, including the Virtus sedan, Taigun SUV, Tiguan R-Line, and the newly launched Golf GTI. These changes, effective from September 22, 2025, are driven by the upcoming GST 2.0 framework, resulting in price drops ranging from Rs 40,000 to a substantial Rs 3.27 lakh. This strategic move enhances the brandโ€™s competitiveness in the Indian market, making its vehicles more appealing to buyers during the festive season.

Virtus Sedan: Affordable and Attractive

The Virtus, a top-selling midsize sedan, sees notable price cuts across its variants, positioning it strongly against competitors like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The entry-level 1.0 TSI Comfortline MT is now priced at Rs 11.16 lakh, reflecting a Rs 40,000 reduction. The 1.0 TSI GT-Line MT variant has been lowered by Rs 49,000 to Rs 13.59 lakh. Higher-end models, such as the 1.5 TSI GT MT Plus Chrome and Sport trims, benefit from reductions of Rs 61,000 and Rs 62,000, respectively.

Automatic variants of the Virtus also receive substantial discounts. The 1.0 TSI Highline AT is now Rs 61,000 cheaper, while the 1.0 TSI GT-Line AT sees a Rs 52,000 cut. The premium 1.5 TSI GT Plus DSG variants in Chrome and Sport trims are reduced by Rs 66,000 and Rs 67,000, respectively, making them highly compelling options in the midsize sedan segment.

Taigun SUV: Enhanced Value Proposition

The Taigun midsize SUV mirrors the Virtus with significant price adjustments under GST 2.0. The base 1.0 TSI Comfortline MT is now priced at Rs 11.39 lakh, down by Rs 41,000. Mid-tier automatic variants, including the 1.0 TSI Highline AT and GT-Line AT, are reduced by Rs 48,000 and Rs 55,000, respectively. The performance-oriented 1.5 TSI GT Plus DSG Sport variant sees a Rs 68,000 price drop, while the Chrome trim is lowered by Rs 67,000, boosting its appeal in the competitive SUV market.

Tiguan R-Line and Golf GTI: Premium Offerings at Reduced Prices

The Tiguan R-Line, a fully imported (CBU) model, now carries a price tag of Rs 45.73 lakh, marking a significant Rs 3.27 lakh reduction. Similarly, the sporty Golf GTI hot-hatch is now available at Rs 50.91 lakh, reflecting a Rs 2.09 lakh price cut. These reductions make Volkswagenโ€™s premium offerings more accessible, delivering exceptional value in the luxury and performance segments.

Market Impact and Consumer Benefits

These price reductions are poised to significantly boost Volkswagen Indiaโ€™s sales volumes, particularly during the festive season. The Virtus and Taigun, already popular in the midsize sedan and SUV segments, are now even more attractive to price-conscious buyers. The substantial cuts on the Tiguan R-Line and Golf GTI enhance their value proposition in the premium market, appealing to enthusiasts and luxury buyers alike. By passing on the GST 2.0 benefits directly to consumers, Volkswagen India is set to strengthen its market presence and drive higher sales in the final quarter of 2025.
